It's a challenge for the Australian squad to break new ground.

The top summits have already been conquered.

We're talking about the team that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to an additional six T20 titles, and earlier maintained nearly four years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, the ones sought by the achievement hunters, are all that remain for a team that has achieved everything.

That it took up to Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to accomplish their maiden ODI chase over 300, regaining their record for the highest in the female 50-over format, is, honestly, a testament to the pitchers that have represented Australia over the past 50 years.

It's difficult for their batters to hold a record if never given the possibility.

Ultimately, the consequence of Australia allowing 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy getting an opportunity to deliver her newest gem.

That loss "pushed us to rethink our standards," Healy commented earlier.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the title decider and was declared player of the series. She made sure her country would not fall short again.

Whether this recent magnificent innings surpassed that earlier display remains open for discussion.

Some will argue the argument supporting final game tension. Some might respond with the test that comes when confronting a historic chase and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's clear is this century was far harder to see coming.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 occurred when she led the batting statistics, but this innings followed six innings in India since the start of last month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've observed me in the nets, it has been a frustrating experience because it appeared I lacked timing at all," stated Healy.

"Yet the moment you take the field, your fighting spirit kick in and you just lock into the match."

Healy's fighting spirit has always been her key asset - and a priceless quality in replacing famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, dismissed by the 22-year-old seamer in all three matches, but this time it merely gave Healy's inspiration.

A single was taken off the opening delivery and after that the right-hander was underway.

"An opportunity to take the field and lock in a contest with her and simply enjoy myself in that regard, sort of got me going," said Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 deliveries - her swiftest at a World Cup - and her century in 84 deliveries while she flogged anything short, hitting 21 fours and three maximums.

Once she was out the team required another 66 at run per delivery - an unconquered height now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"To chase 330 is uncharted waters so I am glad we have the confidence to accomplish that now," continued Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it another time but, if we do, we believe we can do it."

That comment will be the final thing rival teams at this tournament need to hear.

During the last week a feeling they will triumph from any situation has only strengthened - this triumph succeeding win against Pakistan by 107 runs despite being 76-7 at one stage.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a match against longtime competitors England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final berth may probably be guaranteed.

During that phase they were eliminated from the previous year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - an encounter Healy missed because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the inaugural occasion at a major tournament.

Such is her determination, she afterwards commented she regretted not playing with the discomfort.

However although she subsequently acknowledged those injuries have pushed back thoughts of retirement, this World Cup is expected to be her concluding event as leader in one-day cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a global event as skipper.

Triumph in India would lead her to the peak of her final mountain.
